This week, Bangor Erris test site, was witness to a major milestone for Kitepower and for DEM-AWE project: the successful first flight of the 30 kW K-BESS Hawk system with the fully integrated Greener Power Solutions battery.
Despite very light wind conditions on the day of the test (4 –5 m/s), the system performed exceptionally well. The kite maintained stable flight, generating enough electricity to charge the battery even under these challenging conditions. This demonstrates the system's efficiency and adaptability in low-wind scenarios.
The integration of the battery into the Kitepower system worked seamlessly, proving the effectiveness of this innovative setup. In the drone footage, you’ll notice the white battery container located close to the Kitepower ground station.
This test also marks an exciting step forward in Kitepower´s collaboration with Greener, their trusted partner. After this maiden flight with the battery fully integrated, it's time to keep working on further incorporating and optimizing the interface between the Kitepower system and the Greener battery to ensure a fully streamlined and automated energy solution.
This achievement reflects DEM-AWE´s commitment to advancing Airborne Wind Energy technology and delivering reliable and sustainable power solutions.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to push the boundaries of renewable energy innovation!
